Friends of Holy Trinity Eridge AGM

On Sunday 22nd July the Friends of Holy Trinity Church AGM was held at Warren House

On a gloriously sunny warm afternoon, the "Friends" AGM assembled to drink tea and Pimm's and to enjoy a proper afternoon tea of sandwiches, scones and cakes in the garden at Warren House.

Christopher Hall the Chairman of the Friends reported on the money raised and expended in 2017 on the upkeep of the church and the churchyard. Robert Park who is the Treasurer reported on the current state of funds.

The next major project is the re-decoration of the interior of the church. It is proving more of a difficult project than might be obvious given the ill-advised choice of paint used decades ago which has caused the plaster to blister and peel. The meeting felt that while it would take longer and cost more, the best way forward was to get specialist advice and tackle the stripping of the walls back to a state at which the problems could be addressed properly. This may involve working on the interior in sections over several years.

The other project for which funding from the Friends will be required is to replace the lighting with better quality, energy efficient bulbs which will not require replacing so frequently.

The poor timing keeping of the clock was raised, but in fact, the clock is not at fault, only the many power-cuts we suffer in the vicinity. The churchwardens undertook to sort this out.
