The Eridge War Memorials

WW1 spireNew Research for 2018 on the stories behind the names on the war memorials in Eridge Church
Philip Baldock has been researching war graves in Sussex churchyards and some months ago embarked on work to tell the stories of the names on the two war memorials in Eridge Church.

We have two memorials, the First World War memorial is the cross in front of the church which has twenty-one names and inside on a plaque are the seven names.
As we approach the centenary of the end of the First World War it seems highly appropriate to get to know the men behind the names. Men who over one hundred years ago left our village of Eridge to fight in foreign lands to defend their country and who never returned.
To read Philip's work on line please click on the link here.

Two copies of the research will be left on the table in the church for anyone to read, but please leave those copies in the church for others to enjoy.
We should like to record our thanks to Philip for the work he has undertaken to bring these names to life for us.
